Greece: Farmers Blockades What is Needed

Greece: For an Indefinite General Strike

The Mitsotakis government is on the verge of collapse. That it still maintains its position is due solely to the political cowardice and conscious inaction of the opposition. We refer of course to the so-called "Left" parties that are in Parliament, and especially the KKE (Greek Communist Party). All these gentlemen have spent their political activities lately in the cover-up made by the government for the crime of Tempe (train crash), and the blatant financial scandal of OPEKEPE. Formerly they had to.... say about the phone tappings carried out  by Mitsotakis' close staff. A meaningless political grumbling about a number of issues, which as a whole served and serves their 'oppositional' profile. That they were  supposedly fighting and are still 'fighting.'... And if the people were mobilized for the crime of Tempe, it is due to the initiative of the parents of the murdered children, with the "left" opposition following in a behind.....

However, the developments of objective reality have their own logic. The compensations promised by the government to the farmers for those affected by the various economic scandals of OPEKEPE, were apparently made up and somewhere 'snagged' And that was the last drop that made the glass overflow... now its  pouring out in an unstoppable manner (ie farmers blockades).

There is no corner of the country that has not been filled by the tractors of the farmers in revolt  from Crete to Evros. The justified anger of farmers has spread everywhere. And 'our' opposition, of course, is watching awkwardly.

Moments are crucial. The government, along with the whole reactionary apparatus it has set up, is faltering. Farmers urgently need support. And we mean substantial support. The various symbolic visits to the roadblocks and friendly patting on the back are good, but they need practical fighting,
active solidarity. The workers, and all urban workers in general, must be mobilized militantly, the vast majority of whom are suffering every month in order to be able to survive.

You control most (not to say all ie KKE) primary trade unions. What are you waiting for? Call immediately for a general strike that the ramshackle Government of Mitsotakis will not withstand. An indefinite general strike to remove the parasites from their throne......
