A real revolutionary of the post WW2 era
9 September 2025
Well researched book. Highlights the role of a practical man who went where there was revolutionary turmoil, he didn't wait for it to come to him.
Restored the honour of the French Left which as the war ended voted for the military budgets of the bourgeoisie to try to maintain the Empire, in Vietnam, Algeria etc.
Will remain in history as the man who pioneered mobile arms factories for the Algerian revolution which later on became a core component of the Palestinian armed struggle at its birth in the 1960's. Was instrumental in the land redistribution in Algeria which saw 2 odd million settlers leave.
Core philosophy was based on a continuation of the Russian Revolution as expressed by Lenin and Trotsky andhe ended up in conflict with his own followers as head of the post war 4th International in particular the AngloAmerican sections that did not want too much involvement ie risk in real anti colonial revolutions.
Helped Black Panthers who escaped a certain death ftom the USA when they lived in Algeria and also met CheGuevara on his way to the Congo.
Was also involved in the French May-June events in 1968, the rise and fall of Allende and the Portuguse revolution with his cornerstone philosophy of workers self management.
Credit to the author for his research.
Pablo of course after being arrested and imprisoned in Holland for forgeries for the Algerian diaspora would have surely been executed if sent back to Greece. Due to a campaign of solidarity involving French intellectuals British MPs he survived...
Fake leftists have villified him for all the wrong reasons
